
Search & Rescue – Be the Lifeline in Critical Situations
The Petersburg Search & Rescue (SAR) Branch responds to lost or missing person calls when requested by Alaska State Troopers and the public. SAR teams assist people stranded due to weather, tides, equipment failure, or injury. Volunteers also train in rope rescue techniques and support EMS and Fire when additional personnel are needed.
What to Expect as a Volunteer
Who Can Join?

No prior experience needed—training is provided.

Volunteers from all backgrounds are welcome.
Training & Meetings
-
Drills: 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of each month, 6:00 – 8:00 PM.

Additional training available throughout the year.

Department Meetings: 1st Thursday of each month at 7:00 PM at Station 1.

Dinner provided at 6:00 PM (location varies).

Emergency Response

Volunteers are notified by phone and respond when available.
